As a result of the dynamic growth within the construction Industry, Liddell Buchanan Consulting Engineers have introduced a Façade Access Service utilising a Specialist team as an extension to our Scope of Services.

This team will be led by our Specialist and is in recognition of changes to work at height regulations (2005) and CDM (2015). Our long-standing clients including leading Building Owners, Property Management Agents and Architects have requested we offer this as a service.

Our Specialist Façade Access consultants can provide expert advice on the safety, suitability and compliance of work at height equipment, management controls on existing buildings and the design and specification of Façade Access and Fall Protection systems on new & existing buildings.

Their knowledge and expertise shall ensure you have complete peace of mind that work at height is being undertaken safely, efficiently and in accordance with the applicable legislation.

The Façade on any building is not only a visual statement, its correct and regular Cleaning and Maintenance will be a key driver in the life expectancy of the façade and the investment of the Building Asset itself. The façade if correctly maintained also ensures the protection of the Buildings Mechanical, and Structural components by ensuring the facade is maintained well and is water tight.

A carefully designed Façade Access Strategy will also bring many benefits to the Building occupiers, providing a considerate occupier friendly strategy that is non -disruptive to tenants and residents and considers its relationship with the wider public realm, all of this can be achieve by safe, economical, considerate and discreet design of the equipment.

We understand the key drivers in this very specialist field and the recent changes in legislation, European standards, EC directives and changes and in particular to CDM (2015) regulations. CDM (2015) has reinforced the need for a more structured and informed approach to the provision of access and maintenance to the building fabric, than has not perhaps always been the case. For example, the need to prioritise a “Collective measure” means of access above an “Individual or Personal measure.”
